Eat and live long

Regular exercise and a proper diet are the best ways to stay healthy and feel good. There are, however, some nutritional products that have certain specific substances which counteract the effects of ageing. They not only improve the condition of the skin but even help fight various diseases. By adding these foods to your diet plan, you will benefit your whole organism.

Grain

There is a lot of controversy about whether grains are really good for the body, but most of this discussion revolves around how carbohydrates affect body fat level. Many studies have shown that eating whole grains helps in preventing cholesterol from building up in your arteries. However, remember that, as with most things in life, moderation is the key to the success. And this applies here as well.

Pistachios

These little nuts are one of the most nutritious ones. Not many people realize how many advantages they have. Pistachios are an excellent source of copper, manganese and phosphorus. Also, they have excellent antioxidant properties.

Cinnamon

Research shows that cinnamon can reduce insulin spikes after eating a meal. The smaller the increase in blood sugar, the less likely fat is to accumulate in the body. Just add 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to foods you eat every day – such as yoghurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese or fruit juice. We will not only improve the taste but also gain an invaluable ally in the fight for a slim figure. Besides, cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant.

Fishes

It is a natural thing for the brain to decline its effectiveness with age. Fortunately, you can support this important organ by eating fish – eating them regularly is one of the best ways to keep your grey cells in perfect condition. Consuming fish permanently reduces the risk of a heart attack, cancer, and brings many other health benefits.

Spinach

It is true what we were told in childhood, spinach is healthy. Its beneficial properties are underestimated by many of us because the taste and appearance of spinach are not very encouraging to eat. Fortunately, it can be easily added to many dishes, such as scrambled eggs, pancakes, salads and vegetable smoothies.

Coffee

This popular drink has a bad reputation. However, it is not as scary as it seems. The most harmful are the additives that we usually put in coffee – cream and sugar. Some studies show that coffee drinkers are less at risk of dying from heart disease, developing diabetes and Parkinson’s disease.

Green tea

Chinese scientists have found that people who drink three cups of green tea a day-age more slowly. Besides, drinking this type of tea regularly helps to maintain better physical form in old age.

Red, dry wine

It is commonly believed that alcohol is harmful to health. Of course, this is true – especially when we drink it excessively. This does not mean, however, that there are no alcoholic beverages that have a positive effect on our body. Red wine is such a drink. It contains a powerful antioxidant called resveratrol. Animal studies suggest that large amounts of resveratrol may prevent cells in the heart and brain from degradation. In other words, red wine supports these two organs. However, let’s remember about moderation. Wine will have a beneficial effect on us if we limit its consumption to one or two glasses a day. Exceeding this dose is not recommended.
