There are many hypotheses regarding the influence of dietary fiber on cancerogenesis. Some relate to the modulation of IGF-1 activity, estrogen metabolism and regulation of inflammation. Epidemiological studies have shown that fiber is important for cancer.
Epidemiology assumes that diseases have a specific cause (risk factor) and do not appear randomly. Data from 4684 women from SU.VI.MAX cohort were taken into account. They made at least three dietary entries during the 24-hour period. Among women, 167 cases of breast cancer were recorded within the next 12.6 years.
As you can see, the conclusion is not only the supply of fiber, but also its source. It seems that vegetable consumption should be part of a diet counteracting cancer, including breast changes.
