The modern world is still moving forward. Its constant development and incredible innovation delight in the multitude of available solutions. It is not surprising then that the results of research and analyzes carried out in recent years on dietary supplements show that the popular vitamin D – has an extremely wide range of positive properties for the body. Currently, this vitamin is no longer associated only with the regulation of the calcium-phosphate economy. More and more widely, its functions are revealed regarding the wide possibilities of its use in prevention, and even in the treatment of certain diseases. The crucial moment in the views on this substance was 1979, in which the Stumpf et al. Study was published. It showed the presence of receptors belonging to vitamin D inside organs unrelated to the aforementioned calcium-phosphate economy. This amazing discovery allowed for a significant extension of research on this vitamin, as well as the discovery of its completely new, very important properties.
Vitamin D – where will we find it?
At the very beginning, it should be clearly stated that no diet or synthesis process is able to provide the body with the most appropriate and full dose of a given vitamin – in the amounts in which it is required. Of course, supplementation should be a supplement to the diet, but it is its key role to provide the body with fully accumulated, full-blown doses of vitamins and minerals. In our body, vitamin D remains produced from 7-dehydrocholesterol, which is synthesized in our skin as a result of UVB radiation. Thanks to this process almost 80% of this vitamin is produced.
As for the targeting food sources (which are helpful, but are not able to cover the full demand for this vitamin), it is worth knowing that the diet is able to cover only 20% of organic expectations. In the case of vitamin deficiencies, caused by an insufficient amount of vitamin D in the body, our body is exposed to many dangerous consequences. We are threatened with, among others: various disorders of the motor organs (eg rickets, osteoporosis, bone and joint pain, various joint and bone deformities, postural defects, recurrent injuries, injuries or fractures). In addition, we are exposed (in the case of vitamin D deficiency) to the formation of disorders of the calcium-phosphate economy, which are associated with disorders calcemia, calciuria, phosphatase, phosphatics, etc. In addition, they threaten us: chronic pharmacological treatment, digestive disorders and absorption, hepatic diseases (liver failure, cirrhosis, cholestasis, etc.), kidney disease (renal failure, kidney stones).
In the case of vitamin D deficiencies, we may also suffer from many other ailments, among others, diseases of the endocrine glands, disorders of somatic development, developmental delay, diseases of the nervous system (eg epilepsy), immunological diseases and many others.

Vitamin D – an antidote for healthy bones
Properly developing mineralization of bone tissue depends on the delivery calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D. It is also important to properly absorb these substances into the bloodstream. Interestingly, vitamin D, fully controls the absorption processes of calcium absorbed from the light of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as from the renal tubules. In the case of adults, as in children, it is said that vitamin D is a remedy for healthy, and strong bones – nothing more, take the thread! In addition to the aforementioned threats concerning deficiencies of this vitamin, it is worth adding in the context of the skeletal system that vitamin D deficiency, reduces the level of mechanical strength in the skeletal system, which increases the risk of fractures, cracks and degenerations. All this can lead us to the so-called rickets, which remains a highly dangerous impairment of mineralization processes of developing, growing bones, as well as articular cartilage.
